Here's an example from my first ever star trail attempt - shot from the deck on my house. Some star trail stacking software packages can attempt to fill the gaps but I've seen mixed results. With LSNR being forced for your FZ330, you'll get star dotted lines rather than star trails. The 1/2.3" FZ330 requires LSNR for any exposure of 1 second or longer. Panasonic currently only offers the ability to disable Long Shutter Noise Reduction for the 1" and larger-sensored camera models. Is there another way I can achieve my goal of star trails? I dont mind having the noise reduction feature but I would like to be able to choose whether or not to use it! I have looked through all the menus and googled it but to no avail. Is there a way to disable this long shutter noise reduction so that I can use the camera as intended? This makes it impossible to take smooth photos as there are such large gaps between the photos. This means that for a 30 second exposure picture it performs a further 30 seconds of noise reduction rendering the camera unusable for that period of time. However, as soon as I change the exposure time to anything over 1 second the camera performs long shutter noise reduction after each shot. For this I need to take a large number of long exposure photographs at 2 second intervals and then stitch them together to show the rotation of the earth. I have purchased a DMC-FZ330 camera with a view to taking photographs of the night sky showing the movement of the stars in the form of star trails. I am new to the site so please be gentle with me!
